Who are we at war with this week? I can't keep up! Is it Westasia (Iran, Syria) or Eastasia(Korea)?

The war is not meant to be won, it is meant to be continuous. Hierarchical society is only possible on the basis of poverty and ignorance. This new version is the past and no different past can ever have existed. In principle the war effort is always planned to keep society on the brink of starvation. The war is waged by the ruling group against its own subjects and its object is not the victory over either Eurasia or East Asia, but to keep the very structure of society intact.
- George Orwell

This post has been done in similar variations over the past several years. Let's come up with something more original, if you want a DU rec next time.

clever, please consider studying a bit of geography.

East Asia does define a broad location - Japan, the Koreas, etc.
"West Asia"? Not sure that exists, but if it did it wouldn't be Korea.

East Asia and the Mid-East are terms referenced by Europe, as a geographic location. If Europe is the center, then those places are "east" of it, to one degree or another.

East Asia
The East Indies
The Mid-East

When Columbus talked his way into an expedition, he was looking for a route to the "east Indies" - by going west. He "found" the "West Indies" instead.

the point is the war trumpeting is just the same as it was in Orwell's 1984 - a bunch of fear mongering to rip off the working class.

East Asia

West Asia
