When was the last time there was even a candidate for the Democratic nomination that was even regarded as a serious contender who might actually win the nomination who actually had serious policy proposals to reverse directions and actually expand the New Deal and the Great Society? It's been decades.

... you'd admit that they came in through the back door via the DLC. When?..around 1990? Does anyone know the founding date of the DLC? Were ALL democrats a signatory to the DLC when it took over the nominating process of the Democratic Party? Has anyone ever written up a little history on the DLC? If so, I would love to take a look at it. I do believe that if we lifted up the corner of the DLC, that we'd understand why the Democratic Party has been corrupted. They sure do stay out of sight, don't they? Out of sight, out of mind, and running the Democratic Party of today.

on or minimize reductions in the New Deal and the Great Society. I would say that not since 1972 has there been a Democratic nominee or a candidate for the Democratic nomination who actually came at all close to winning the Democratic nomination who was driven by the New Deal and Great Society vision of pushing forward and expanding social democracy. Even Mondale in in 84 and Dukakis in 88 who both had New Deal backgrounds - were NOT running on a platform to expand the New Deal and the Great Society - they were running on a platform to basically hold the line or minimize cutbacks. This contrast sharply with the LBJ in 64 or Humphrey in 68 or McGovern in 72 who in spite of their fundamental split over the Vietnam war - all three of them called for eradicating poverty and creating the just society.

... of never winning another election, thought they needed to be more like Republicans to get elected. I'd rather stand on principal and lose than stand for something I'm not and get elected. Where is the character in that? It was the Reagan effect. He scared the pants off the Democrats and they sold out. George McGovern WAS the last great Democrat to run for office. I miss George so much. That's where this nation took it's tragic turn... when it turned it's nose up to a real Patriot.

OK, even Jimmy Carter... didn't he deregulate the airline industry? Democrats turned so damn Harry Reid-gullible, didn't they? Couldn't stand to be called "liberals." What wimps. Afraid to stand up and fight for what was right. Damn!

I still want to know the history of the DLC. History tells a story and I want to hear it. I want to know in what smokey back room this decision went down. I want names and dates. I want the truth.

Which political goon figured out how to turn honorable military service against a canidate. - Kennedy's service was cool with voters, but the generals hated him when he got to office. Then McGovern, Carter, Gore, Kerry - the bigger the hero, the better the record, the worse the smear.

A small town preacher's son who became the state high school debating champion and then grew up to be a bona fide World War II hero - with a record attested to by every single member of his crew - then when on to be a seminary student and a Methodist Minister for a short while before going back and getting his PHD in history and then returning to teach American history at his undergraduate alma mater - Dakota Wesleyan University - Then single handedly rebuilding the South Dakota Democratic Party and becoming the first Democrat to be elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in a generation then appointed to a cabinet level position by John F. Kennedy to establish the Food for Peace program and then becoming the first Democrat from South Dakota to be elected to the U.S. Senate for a generation. George McGovern's life story sounds so patriotic and so small town America - it's hard to believe there was ever anyone that good, wholesome, patriotic and decent. But the goons - including some in the Democratic Party establishment managed to turn him into the very symbol of the absolute opposite of everything he really was in real life.

...who figured out how to turn a candidate with military service into an unelectable candidate. And here is why: Any former soldier knows the true cost of war and will think long and hard before sending our soldiers into war. They would be less likely to go along with the MIC and their war hawks in the House and the Senate. Now, think of who the war hawks are. They are the effing vulture capitalist chickenhawks. Just follow the money trail. The military likes them, because they all have a stake in the MIC. They all have Dollar $igns in their eyes. They are blinded by greed and avarice. Through them, the big MIC machine continues to turn.

Sanders Senate Majority leader (Yes, some DLC 'er's heads may explode. Acceptable collateral damage, IMHO)

Allen Grayson - House Speaker

I believe that our key to survival as a great nation is wresting control of our economy out of the control of the banks and insurance companies, and reworking accounting practices and taxation, so that labor abuse, environmental monstrosities, hostile takeovers, and the Bain business model all become quite unprofitable.
Except for it's effect on the paper wealth of the 1%, and the whinging of some seriously over-entitled fools in the 5%, show me how this would be bad for the country.

Compromise my ass. Compromise is letting the top 10 K Economic criminals walk to a little cottage by the sea, whatever laundered assets they can prove managed by a US Treasury appointed trustee.
