“F— ‘Em Early and F— ‘Em Often” Says Pilot Flying J VP About Customers

>>>
Ever since the news got out that the FBI had raided the Pilot Flying J headquarters in Knoxville, TN last week, rumors and wild speculation abounded, with everyone trying to figure out why the FBI took action. Now that the FBI have released the affidavit that they used to obtain their search warrants we have our answer: the information in the affidavit suggests that Pilot Flying J may have stolen tens of millions of dollars from trucking companies… and that the owner, Jimmy Haslam, may have known that it was happening.

They just got caught. I wonder how it will effect his brother the Governor? He is another shady character.

ma and pop truck stops were sprinkled all along this nation's highways until the 80s or so.

if you do much traveling, you'll notice that a handful of corporate chains have put most of the independents out of business (similar to the trucking industry itself).

plus, most truck stops had bars in them too.

you don't see that too often anymore.

Now all you get is some corporate slop and a fast food joint along with the convenience store hot dogs.

Locals would patronize the older style truck stops but now they are mostly places to avoid.

things interesting and charming, small businesses. Now, around here at least, most businesses and just about all new ones are faceless corporations with a P&L formula that generally puts people last. Many are gross and ugly.

In this little town where we live, I'm a transplant, my wife was raised here, there used to be one hell of a good truck stop restaurant and a few years back they 4 laned the highway near to it. The good food truck stop was forced to shut down and it was promptly torn down because they said they needed the space for the new hiway. Now on the very same spot, exactly, is a mcDonalds serving cardboard food.

Small as it may be, there is nothing for more than 50 miles in any direction for trucks:
