Anybody give Miranda to the businessman/murderer who blew up a town? Oh right, he'll never be arrested. #WestTexas
The company, which has fewer than 10 employees, had provided no contingency plan to the EPA for a major explosion or fire at the site. It told the EPA in 2011 that a typical emergency scenario at the facility that holds anhydrous ammonia could result in a small release in gas form.
The EPA fined the firm $2,300 in 2006 for failing to implement a risk management plan.
The plant's owner could not be reached for comment . . .

Some animals are more equal, though.
Cast not your antipathy upon the noble job creator and good businessman who has had a mishap. There is a big difference between an accident in the line of doing business and an intentional act of neglect.
That difference is self-defined and asking what that means is suspect.

I don't think there's much hope in getting anything done about the fertilizer factory explosion. The people in the town don't seem to want anything done about it. So there you go. Stupid is and stupid does.

(5 posts)Just found this on a Facebook page called Forward Progressives. It makes me so angry that Sen. Cruz could vote against Sandy relief but then ask for it for a man-made disaster in his own state.

(85,919 posts). . . predictable republican hypocrisy on display, represented ably by Cruz. The point about holding the company (and state regulators) responsible for the cost, is on target - not begrudging anyone any aid and assistance needed up front.

(30,058 posts)Deregulate them everything will be just fine", his bill allowed the banks to have to be bailed out. These industries is concerned about one thing, profits at somebody else cost. Now Crazy Cruz is begging for FEMA money to help the people rebuild their lives. I am not against those folks but the fertilize company should be paying the bill. Crazy Cruz and Crony voted against providing for Sandy victims and Sandy was an act of God, the fertilize company was not. Romney talked about the 47%, here is your example of corporations living off tax payer money.
