It sounds like the NY idea was a spur-of-the-moment one. And anyways, who cares?

2. Which Still Makes No Sense

Why did they stay in Boston, and act as if nothing was different? Did they really think that they would not get caught?

I'll be honest, I don't understand why they didn't in fact go to New York and detonate more bombs?

Presuming their complete guilt, they were quite naive to think there was no evidence, or that the police would not be able to identify them.

Thinking like a criminal, Boston would be the last place I'd want to hang around if I had committed this particular crime.

I thought you were saying they were dumb. In that case, why don't you believe the New York story?

But, the more I hear about this, the more I start to think that these guys were just a couple of amateurs who had delusions.

Almost none of their actions immediately after the bombing make any sense until one assumes that. When their pictures appeared all over the media they panicked, with the mayhem that that would give rise to.

It won't stop the conspiracy kooks from spinning all the craziness into some wacked-out grand conspiracy. Actually, when one thinks a little about it, that's precisely the kind of event that brings the kooks out of the walls like cockroaches. The more chaos, the better for them, the worse for the rest of us.
