9. This is what I believe:

The owner and/or manager of that place had a helluva lot of ammonium nitrate onsite.

They didn't report it to anyone and lied when asked directly about it.

People died because no one knew that a gigantic bomb was set to explode.

Somebody needs to go to jail for a long, long time.

12. There's ample evidence to press manslaughter charges

It would be a slam-dunk prosecution, only ideology is getting in the way of justice being meted out.

11. There is a hole in the ground 10 feet deep and 100 feet across.

Nothing that was reported as part of the inventory could have caused that explosion.

A large quantity of ammonium nitrate would have caused such a crater.

We know that this facility housed over 20,000 tons of unreported ammonium nitrate during the course of 2012.

Yes, let's wait for the official word, but I think we all have a real good idea of happened.

But it is a long damn way between a "good idea what happened" and prosecutable criminal charges. They need time to gather enough evidence to prove which exact person did what, and when did they do it, and who knew. If the bases are not covered the case is over.

When it's a corporate crime, a higher standard is required.

5. Pretty unlikely

Given that there's no evidence of criminal activity.

There's likely to be some relatively severe civil repercussions.

10. Not how a lot of people think.

They're outraged and want a vigilante government to punish the people they're outraged against. Their outrage entails that some criminal activity must be present on the part of the people they're outraged against.

Laws are meant for vengeance and satisfying outrage, not providing a set of enforceable and predictable rules for ordering society.

Without knowing the facts, how can you substantiate a criminal charge?

15. Isn't Rick Perry the one who said in the debates he wanted to do away with the EPA?
Thu Apr 25, 2013, 04:41 AM

It was the #3 thing he couldn't remember at the debates and Ron Paul had to whisper it to him. He wants deregulation of business, no EPA, and then if people are injured or killed he wants so called "tort reform" to do away the ability of the victims to be made whole. Only big business counts not people.
