UPDATE: The Albuquerque Journal's Dan McKay is reporting that Kush has been "suspended indefinitely without pay" for his social media posts.

Kush also apologized, telling McKay, "It was in ill-fated attempt at humor, on my personal page, not the county party’s page."

County GOP Chairman Frank Ruvolo released the following statement, confirming Kush’s suspension:

“I spoke with Mr. Kush about the remarks he posted on his personal Facebook page and to say the least he does regret the comments he made last night. I, also understand he is at this very moment working on a formal apology.

“I have informed Kush he is suspended, immediately and without pay, indefinitely for those remarks. The County Party does not condone what he posted on his Facebook page and will not tolerate that type of insensitivity toward any person.

“On a personal note, I’ve known Kush for several years now and am quite certain he feels horrible about the entire situation. I’m positive his apology will be heartfelt and genuine”
