Carney announced the cancellation at the WH briefing today. The excuse was that Obama wanted to spend more time at a Memorial service for the victims of the explosion and fire in West, TX.
Thanks, Mr. President, for standing up prominently for choice at a time when it's being whittled down to nothing in state after state.
and no, I don't have a link.

(114,904 posts)he was scheduled to appear there and then return to D.C. and go to the evening fundraiser. And he's been under a lot of pressure for the last week to cancel.

(30,439 posts)Acting as if he's using the memorial service as an excuse to dodge a planned parenthood fundraiser is absurd.
The President is a very busy man. Attending a memorial service and comforting the victims...then flying across the country to give a keynote address the same day ain't easy.
Also, he's just delaying his address. It isn't "cancelled"
I suggest you delete your OP to save yourself further embarrassment.

(114,904 posts)and then he cancelled because he said he wanted to spend more time at the memorial. And he cancelled totally last minute.
He's been pressured to cancel the keynote by the right.

President Obama is delaying his speech to Planned Parenthood by a day in order to attend a Thursday memorial service for the victims of last week's fertilizer plan explosion in Texas, officials said Wednesday.
Initially scheduled for Thursday night, the president's remarks to Planned Parenthood have now been re-scheduled for Friday morning.
Obama attends the memorial at Baylor University in Waco on Thursday afternoon, just hours after speaking at the dedication of the George W. Bush presidential library in Dallas.
The change in schedule will allow Obama "to spend more time with those injured and the loved ones of those lost in the deadly explosion in West, Texas," said White House spokesman Jay Carney.

(42,680 posts)I challenge anyone to name who gave the keynote at last year's dinner, which presumably was delivered during the "prominent" time slot. Its not as if the media is covering this event live and this way the president won't get noticed.
Sheesh.

(12,504 posts)Oh and BTW....since it has been raised so many times that Obama is kowtowing to the Right by 'cancelling', are there any corrections, or even apologies to be offered?

(21 posts)by saying he cancelled you mislead the readers.
Note how the USA Today, for example, says Obama delayed the event: http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2013/04/24/obama-planned-parenthood-speech-texas-visit/2110013/
That's non-misleading journalism in that link.

(114,904 posts)didn't announce it until yesterday. In the face of choice disappearing over the past few months, he hasn't spoken up about the laws being passed in Arkansas, Kansas, ND, Virginia, Alabama, etc, over the past few months.
We need him and his bully pulpit on this issue.

(13,986 posts)OP's like this trash the credibility of the poster. And so it is here. No source, no link, but we're all supposed to run around doing The Headless Chicken Dance.
And when the truth is revealed, the poster usually fails to issue a correction. No wonder I don't buy into their BS meme.
