New $100 Bills Are Coming And This Is What They Look Like

The Federal Reserve Board announced on Wednesday that the new, redesigned US $100 bill would begin circulating on October 8, 2013.

The bill, whose design was originally released in 2010, now includes security features like a 3D security ribbon in order to thwart counterfeiters.

The new bill also includes a watermarked image of Benjamin Franklin, a security thread that glows pink under ultraviolet light, and raised printing on Franklin’s shoulder. There is also a color-shifting bell hidden in the image of the inkwell next to Franklin.

The white part near the small face is actually transparent. The entire bill is plastic.

The older counting machines hate them and get confused if there's a mixture of old and new.

The plastic tends to cause jams in the machines and is so slippery it's difficult to count by hand.

I agree that with the constant reworking of the designs it is hard to keep up. Ten dollar bills come in all colors and designs.
They are going to have to issue a handbook of all the variations of legal tender or get better at replacing older bills faster.
