Crazy Politicians from New Hampshire...

Yesterday there was a post about a state representative who stated she believed the Boston Marathon bombing was a government conspiracy. Ever wonder why NH seems to have so MANY loons? From Wiki:

" The House of Representatives consists of 400 members coming from 204 legislative districts across the state, created from divisions of the state's counties. On average, each legislator represents about 3,300 residents. If the same level of representation were present in the U.S. Congress, that body would have approximately 99,000 members, according to current population estimates. Members are paid a salary of $200 per biennium, as are New Hampshire state senators."

That's right-here in NH we believe so much in comprehensive representation that we elect a few of every specimen of strangeness from the broad swath of human experience. Picture an ironic Noah gathering a pair of each political persuasion on earth. So ask not how we gathered so many exotic species, ask only how the US House managed to outshine us so wildly with just 435 slots...

1. It was NH that threw the 2000 election to W. With their 4 votes, Gore would have had 271.

and only 270 was needed.

Florida wouldn't have mattered

3. Both those happened weeks after the election itself. NH happened election day.

so yes, if NH's 4 votes went for Gore, it ended around 8pm eastern on election day,
not 12/12/2000. Ralph Nader even admits it.

Even if vermont had the same level of representation, there's no way people like conspiracy woman and vagina rep would be elected.

But NH is beautiful and does have the ocean.

have done a pretty damn good job on some key positions: Governor, 2 US reps and 1 US senator. And...Ayotte is going to be in big trouble next election.

and yeah, NH representation is better than it was a few years back, but I still find the differences between our two states baffling.

Years ago, I went to a presentation of Swan Lake by Pacific Northwest Ballet. Of course, the music was beautiful and all else was good, but the stage was crowded, at one point, two dancers actually stumbled when they bumped together. Ruined the entire performance.

Same thing in NH. This really smacks of apologetics, they need to take responsibility for their sloppy government and clean-up their act.

is the 4th largest english speaking legislative body in the world, coming behind the English Houses of Commons and Lords and the US house. This being the case we get more diverse political views than smaller bodies from larger populations.

I wonder what the US house would look like if we paid them "$200 per biennium"??? At least ours aren't crazy for money...ours are REALLY crazy.

New Hampshire state Rep. Stella Tremblay's government conspiracy crap actually gains credibility from her position.
