On behalf of Jeff Sullivan and the rest of us here at IUPAT DC 35, we would humbly ask that you consider donating to help Brother Boisverts family as they attempt to recover from this horrific tragedy.
Let them know that here at DC 35, as well as,
the rest of Boston and those injured, that we truly stand as one.
Here is their story:
Celeste and Sydney Corcoran, were badly injured in the blasts at the Boston Marathon on 4/15/13. Sydney, 18, suffered severe injuries and deep arterial damage to her right leg as a result of being hit with shrapnel and Celeste, Sydney's mother, has lost both her legs below the knee. Celeste and Sydney are the niece and great-niece of Claude Boisvert, an employee of Save-On-Walls, Inc., Hudson, NH, and a proud member of DC #35 and LU #577, and his wife, Dorothy (Corcoran) Boisvert.
Sydney, with her mother, Celeste, and father Kevin, were in Boston to watch her aunt, Celeste's sister, Carmen, finish her first marathon. Kevin received minor shrapnel injuries, but otherwise was physically okay. Kevin and Celeste's son, Tyler, was supposed to attend also, but at the last minute, had a change of plans.
This is not the first catastrophic event the family has suffered. While crossing a busy street at Salisbury Beach in June 2011, Sydney was struck by a car driven by a senior citizen. The accident left her with severe injuries, including a fractured skull. But Sydney, 18, a Lowell High School senior bound for Middlesex Community College this fall, dug deep and fought valiantly to preserve her young life. Family members breathed sighs of relief, hoping they would never have to relive such a nightmare.
Kevin drives a delivery truck for F.W. Webb Company, a Bedford-based plumbing supply company. Celeste is a hairdresser who works in a salon on Newbury Street in Boston. There is a long road ahead, both physically and emotionally, and the family is hoping to relieve some of the financial burden by raising funds in their name.
An on-line donation fund has been set up by Celeste and Sydney's cousin, Alyssa Carter, at www.gofundme.com (Celeste and Sydney Recovery Fund) this site also has pictures and updates on their progress and we encourage you to go there, read their story and get to know these strong, wonderful women they are.
For those not comfortable with the on-line donation site, an account has also been established at the Enterprise Bank. Donations to that account may be sent to:
Enterprise Bank
c/o Celeste and Sydney Fund
1120 Main Street
Tewksbury, MA 01876
Celeste and Sydney have shown remarkable strength and resilience in the face of devastating injuries and will require continuing care and assistance for quite some time, anything our brothers can do to ease their journey on the road ahead would be greatly appreciated.
