Can you intentionally do nothing but fuck people over Monday through Saturday

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by Violet_Crumble (a host of the General Discussion forum).

and then be forgiven for the whole week on Sunday? Is this the way the people of the U.S. appear to the world? Do we pretend to be divine when we're actually evil?

And it isn't God's forgiveness I'd be concerned about, it's my own. I don't think God really gives a rats ass about me but I'd just feel like crap until I made it right.

Perhaps I just don't get how to be a good American.

not that I think it should be because it's a topic that is very relevant in today's world.

It happens to be a pet peeve of mine, the way the churches are used to launder guilt. We have community leaders who do unthinkable things in their communities, from fraud to conspiracy, and then they write a big check to their churches and for that they get to sit next to the people they've exploited.

One of the reasons I stopped going to church.

and yes, it is then likely that you are forgiven.

So many focus on the asking forgiveness part, but forget that one needs to actually repent.
Asking/confessing is just words without the repentance and following actions.

1. To feel remorse, contrition, or self-reproach for what one has done or failed to do; be contrite.
2. To feel such regret for past conduct as to change one's mind regarding it:

so your scenario would not work. cannot purposely fuck people over all week, sincerely ask for forgiveness only to fuck them over the next week. not from the heart. is a fail
