Protest shuts down PNC shareholder meeting

A group concerned with the environmental effects of mountaintop removal coal mining descended on PNC Financial Services Group's annual shareholders meeting Downtown this morning, disrupting the event and forcing Chairman and CEO James Rohr to abruptly shut it down.
Mr. Rohr tried to deliver his presentation inside the August Wilson Center, but was repeatedly interrupted by members of the Earth Quaker Action Team who took turns calling out the names of individual board members asking them to state their position on mountaintop mining.

Opponents of Keystone to train 60K activists in civil disobedience
Progressive groups and Native Americans are escalating their opposition to the proposed Keystone XL oil sands pipeline with acts of civil disobedience.
The mobile phone firm CREDO Mobile and green group Rainforest Action Network plan to train 60,000 activists in civil disobedience as they pressure President Obama to reject the Canada-to-Texas pipeline.
“There is still time to convince President Obama to change his mind and reject Keystone XL,” CREDO Political Director Becky Bond said during a Monday media call.

Protesters disrupt Wells Fargo shareholder meeting in Salt Lake City
For the first time in about 15 years, banking giant Wells Fargo held its shareholders meeting away from its headquarter city of San Francisco, gathering Tuesday under a heavy security presence at The Grand America Hotel in downtown Salt Lake City.
At least two dozen protesters, some carrying signs criticizing bank mortgage policies, marched peacefully outside the hotel under the watch of about a half-dozen police officers, a far different scene than last year’s mass demonstration in San Francisco. Inside, about half-a-dozen people were escorted out of the meeting at one point after directing heated questions at CEO John Stumpf.

( worth reading about the proposals that were presented at the meeting)
