Bombers' carjacking victim says he's lucky to be alive

snip

"They asked me where I'm from. I told them I'm Chinese," the man said. "I was very scared. I asked them if they were going to hurt me. They said they won't hurt me. I was thinking, 'I think they will kill me later.'"

But if that was their plan, they wouldn't get the chance. The carjacking victim said his car was running out of gas, so the men needed to fill up.

snip

"I thought it was a very good chance for me to run," he said. "So, I made a judgment. I used my left hand to unbuckle my belt, my right hand to open the door. I jumped out of the car and ran away across the street."

snip

The man said he could hear the brother swearing at him as he ran.

when they were speaking in Russian. So that's why they shut down cab and public transport service.

At LEAST this part of the story has a happy ending. They think the motive for killing the MIT officer was to get his gun.

This reminds me of the Dartmouth College murders more than anything else. The official motive is of course different, but otherwise it seems to be a similar sort of situation.

While I doubt he left his cell phone behind voluntarily, he was able to tell the cops about it and they used it to track these jerks to Watertown.

Between him and one very pissed off boat owner, the bombers had a very bad day.

I thought they'd just let him go. I hadn't heard he escaped. Whew! Lucky lucky guy! He will be very famous and maybe make some good money off of this story.

(and men) tips on surviving an abduction. The one issue he could not state
strongly enough was, never get into a car with an abductor. It lowers your
chances of survival greatly. He suggested screaming fire, vomiting, defecating,
urinating on the spot, anything but getting in the car.

So glad he made it otta there.
