In the wake of some pretty heated arguments last night and after receiving one truly vile PM this afternoon, I went seeking some peace and beauty tonight, and as is often the case, Mother Nature/Gaia/the Great Spirit/God/Allah or whoever graciously provided. Maybe these will bring some peace to you, as well.
And, oh, by the way, I will never EVER apologize or feel guilty for loving my Muslim son-in-law, who incidentally is not a terrorist. Sheesh...

btw, I'm so glad you shared those pics in the OP with us. That's the best antidote to the ugly stuff from today that I know of

(46,436 posts)He played for Australia, Hong Kong, Great Britain, I think. He once made it to the cover of Rugby Magazine. I met a couple of Australian ladies at the Iditarod in Nome who remembered him from his pro days. These days he plays old-timers rugby since he's close to 40.

(90,202 posts)I am so glad I missed that argument, because it has been fairly toxic around here.
And I am so glad NOT to have missed this beautiful post.
Love to you and your family -- there's not enough love in this world as it is. All the best,

Don't worry, what has happened has been noticed and you have a lot of people supporting you in the background.

(46,436 posts)That's very sweet of you to say. I'm glad you like my pictures. I've come to photography late in life, and I really enjoy it. Thank Zeus for digital. (I'm giving all the deities equal time tonight.)

(39,154 posts)But that isn't a prejudice because you are not prejudging. We know full well that bigotry is baseless and unnecessarily destruct. So, I suppose you have a well-founded opinion about prejudice.
Sorry if I'm just rambling. The sun was out when I started my project and now it out again after working all night.
...you need to get off the computer and get some serious shut-eye. 24 hours is way too much time on that project. Sleep well my friend. Here's a goodnight kiss for you.
More like 36 hours, but I did get 3 hours of sleep after. It's okay, I'll sleep in tomorrow.

(28,581 posts)I hope you forwarded that PM to David. We don't need people on DU like that. I've found trash thread to have helped the past few days. It removes the thread from sight without having to ignore people that you may usually agree with on other things.

Regardless you have a lovely family and take the most magnificent pictures.
Peace back at you.

(46,436 posts)I have no problem at all with a reasoned discussion. The individual had gone over the edge and was making threats. And I understood your criticism of the analogy and think it was well taken. Abortion clinic bombers are much more analogous to the Boston tragedy than anything the Westboro Baptist Church does. It was actually the Bill Maher thread that got ugliest.
You have never been anything but gracious to me, and I would never take offense at anything I've seen you post in the past.

(46,436 posts)I'm feeling better today. That was all a bit stressful last night. I might expect a response like that if I was posting on Free Republic or something, but not here. I guess nerves are kind of raw right now. Maybe if the culprit is ever allowed back he'll mind his manners a little more.

(38,187 posts)There is no better peace, to me, than taking the time to marvel at the wonders of nature. You literally can learn something new every single day just by watching nature. Whether you are identifying the flora and fauna or observing how they go about their lives, you can learn and lot and find so much peace in nature.
Great OP! And no, you should never apologize or feel guilty for loving your son-in-law.
