Is there anything in either of their backgrounds that would indicate some kind of training that would allow them to construct sophisticated cell phone detonators from scratch? That, to me, is what screams training of some kind.

Maybe the money the Bomb Bros were supposed to escape with was pinched by one of the middlemen. It seems to me there are a large number of go-betweens separating the person making the decisions to the person/persons who carry them out.

I don't think we've peeled away all the layers of the onion yet.
