Sorry If This is Offensive BUT.....

...I have officially reached Boston Marathon bombing burnout.

I have been stunned, I have cried, I have often wondered why. I have taken a moment of quiet by a half staff flag and celebrated the capture of a suspect.

But now a week has gone by and the funerals completed I think it is time for a refocus on the other challenges that face our country. We still have many out of work and a mostly dysfunctional Democratic and republican congress.

I do not say this with disrespect but do we really need a play by play especially since we have almost forgot about the Texas blast victims from last week.

I am thankful for PBS and my DVR during times like this.

Thats all.

type in BBC Documentary into the search bar...I love history...there are many different kinds of history, there is natural history and english history...there is science...do you really want a list? I can do it but only if you're seriously asking for a list of what I've been watching...

There's one about the desert glass that I found interesting for instance...there are many about Egypt. There's a program called Unsolved History that was interesting...

Anyway...if you're serious pm me and I'll give you a list. I'm watching youtube again today...I may never go back...

4. Victims of the Texas blast were killed by capitalism. We don't acknowledge them.

for OP's about the Texas plant. I received over 10 pages of results or, 1,170 results (0.19 seconds). I don't think DU'ers are ignoring the issue(s) at all

5. One thing to remember though is that the fertilizer plant explosion
Mon Apr 22, 2013, 10:46 PM

was a willful disregard for safety

While the Boston Marathon attack was a premeditated intentional infliction of harm.

It's an important difference.

The New Law We Need in Order to Deal With Dzhokhar Tsarnaev
Congress should authorize the isolation and detention of suspected terrorists.

This has implications because we are now confronted with a different set of circumstances...no Al Qaeda but homegrown extremists.

Moreover why are FBI background checks in the citizenship process so inadequate? If Tamerlan turns out to have been a drug dealer who murdered 3 people that is even more of a vote of no confidence.

Either something needs a whole lot of fixing or we need to accept preventive measures can't be expected to accomplish much.

7. 'All' the funerals haven't taken place yet. And the news is still talking about Texas explosion.

But I understand what you're saying.

There's been more 'other' news today on DU and on TV though compared to the past week.

8. I Don't Think It's Offensive. I'd Bet Many of US Are Also Experiencing Burnout

With our 24hr news cycles it's hard not experience burnout on any major story - good or bad. Looks like as the Boston Bombings are beginning to wain a bit the Texas explosion is starting to get some well-deserved attention though. Now we'll get sick of it too.

Sun midwife an on Sat I watched another series called Bomb Girls. Both take place around WWII and it shows the struggles of life in England during that time period. Really good. Like Masterpiece Theater. This is all on overkill.

And, like you, it's no disrespect to the victims, but leave these folks alone and let them heal and recover. We really don't need 24 hour coverage of it, imo.
