Patty Myers from Montana has a message for Sen. Alan Simpson.

Jim Lorenzen sent this to me...

I don't think 'pissed' really covers it...

Alan Simpson, the Senator from Wyoming calls senior citizens the Greediest Generation as he compared "Social Security " to a Milk Cow with 310 million teats. Here's a response in a letter from PATTY MYERS in Montana ... I think she is a little ticked off! She also tells it like it is!
"Hey Alan, let's get a few things straight!!!
1. As a career politician, you have been on the public dole (tit) for FIFTY YEARS.

2. I have been paying Social Security taxes for 48 YEARS (since I was 15 years old. I am now 63).

3. My Social Security payments, and those of millions of other Americans, were safely tucked away in an interest bearing account for decades until you political pukes decided to raid the account and give OUR money to a bunch of zero losers in return for votes, thus bankrupting the system and turning Social Security into a Ponzi scheme that would make Bernie Madoff proud.
4. Recently, just like Lucy & Charlie Brown, you and "your ilk" pulled the proverbial football away from millions of American seniors nearing retirement and moved the goalposts for full retirement from age 65 to age, 67. NOW, you and your "shill commission" are proposing to move the goalposts YET AGAIN.

5. I, and millions of other Americans, have been paying into Medicare from Day One, and now "you morons" propose to change the rules of the game. Why? Because "you idiots" mismanaged other parts of the economy to such an extent that you need to steal our money from Medicare to pay the bills.

6. I, and millions of other Americans, have been paying income taxes our entire lives, and now you propose to increase our taxes yet again. Why? Because you "incompetent bastards" spent our money so profligately that you just kept on spending even after you ran out of money. Now, you come to the American taxpayers and say you need more to pay off YOUR debt.
To add insult to injury, you label us "greedy" for calling "bullshit" to your incompetence.
Well, Captain Bullshit, I have a few questions for YOU:

1. How much money have you earned from the American taxpayers during your pathetic 50-year political career?

2. At what age did you retire from your pathetic political career, and how much are you receiving in annual retirement benefits from the American taxpayers?

3. How much do you pay for YOUR government provided health insurance?

4. What cuts in YOUR retirement and healthcare benefits are you proposing in your disgusting deficit reduction proposal, or as usual, have you exempted yourself and your political cronies?
It is you, Captain Bullshit, and your political co-conspirators called Congress who are the "greedy" ones. It is you and your fellow nutcase thieves who have bankrupted America and stolen the American dream from millions of loyal, patriotic taxpayers.

And for what? Votes and your job and retirement security at our expense, you lunk-headed, leech.
That's right, sir. You and yours have bankrupted America for the sole purpose of advancing your pathetic, political careers. You know it, we know it, and you know that we know it.

And you can take that to the bank, you miserable s-n of a b-t-h.
P.S. And stop calling Social Security benefits "entitlements". WHAT AN INSULT!!!!
I have been paying in to the SS system for 45 years “It's my money”-give it back to me the way the system was designed and stop patting yourself on the back like you are being generous by doling out these monthly checks .

EVERYONE!! If you agree with what a Montana citizen, Patty Myers, says, please PASS IT ON!!!!

but no one ever had "an interest-bearing account"...prior to the Grand Bargain of the 80s, workers paid for then-retirees. After the Grand Bargain, boomers paid for then-retirees and built up the "trust fund" for their own eventual retirement. The federal government always borrowed that money, and used it to reduce the yearly deficit (to be fair, the SS fund was required to invest the money, and what could be safer than government bonds?).

The problem is, having borrowed $3 trillion-ish from the trust fund, they would really rather not have to pay it back. Hence the push for cutting benefits.

This:
"give OUR money to a bunch of zero losers in return for votes, thus bankrupting the system and turning Social Security into a Ponzi scheme"
And:
"spent our money so profligately that you just kept on spending even after you ran out of money"

Labeling SS a Ponzi scheme and blaming deficits entirely on spending (leaving out tax cuts for the rich & corporate loopholes) are very much in keeping with rightwing talking points. I understand her anger and agree with most of her rant, but can't go along with that narrative. Cutting earned benefits to seniors after a lifetime of paying into the system is WRONG on many levels, and the asswipe politician who added insult to this injury deserves much worse than Patty Myers gave him.

Although the social security program is an entitlement. That is the way Franklin D. Roosevelt insisted that it be constructed. Think of it this way, you put YOUR money in your savings account, and yes your employers contribution is part of the paycheck that you earned. This money is YOURS and it earns interest. You are entitled to withdraw it because it is your money, you EARNED it period. The only role the federal government has in social security is to manage it. Politicians have no role in it except to steal your money which you are ENTITLED to because that is what criminals do, and why are we surprised that people, criminals, who have no discernible redeeming qualities steal our stuff? When someone steals your money at the point of a gun they go to prison, hopefully. When a politician steals your money with his, actually your, vote he gets another cash reward from the masters who own him. Sorta like a pit bull that bites the neighborhood kids whenever the master wants their candy. Social Security is one of the best programs ever and those wonderful, caring people on Wall Street can't wait to get their hands on it and like the pit bull, shake every dime loose from you, after all its just candy to them. And anyway if you need retirement cash you should have invested in a house or the stock market, after all the Government will insure you against all those losses just like they did for the big boys, right.

I want to re-frame this debate and reclaim the language into something that actually registers in the shrunken pit of a republican skull - social security PAYMENTS are NOT "benefits" nor are they "entitlements" (at least not in the sense that they get portrayed - something for nothing, or freeloading....if you mean mean money that we are ENTITLED TO HAVE RETURNED, then we can discuss it).

The fact is that progressives and liberals remain on the defense because we lack the collective will to change a meme - ANY meme - that starts off as right wing propaganda.

- We got bullied into the twin wars of Aggression in the 2000's
- We got further bullied into abominations like Gitmo and the Patriot Act just as easily...
- We ended up with a President who negotiates with himself FIRST, then with the opposition and at the end gets nothing he couldn't have had by fiat in the first place.
- We ended up with a Senate Leader who is too timid and weak to take the necessary steps to end the phony gridlock and unconstitutional "60-vote" threshold for even getting VOTES let alone real debate on critical issues.
- We have lost issue after issue after issue because we allow the spin miesters of the right - like that miserable bastard Luntz - to dress them up as something other than what they are and call it something they KNOW will gin up their "base" and create enough noise to seem important.

We have been badly outplayed for a very long time. Its time to stop rolling over, they're just going to kick us again, not rub our belly!

Its NOT "gun control", its "firearm massacre prevention".
Its NOT "Social Security reform", its "returning private equity".
Its NOT "GAY/SAME SEX Marriage", its just "marriage equality".

If the democrats of the 60's and 70's had been as weak as the ones in our representative caucus of today, we wouldn't have had a Civil Rights Movement - it would have been dubbed the "destruction of American Heritage". We would not have passed Civil Rights Legislation - we would have "destroyed the Constitution". In many places in the South, not all, but a good number, you will find EXACTLY these sentiments and worse expounded hourly.

Its time to stop allowing the right to control the language and discussion. Its time to force people to educate themselves and stand up for whats morally courageous, difficult and right instead of whats politically expedient, easy, and cowardly.

Mr. Reid, Mr. Obama, Senators, Representatives, Staffs and others - heed the advice of Mr. Mark Twain and cease to argue with the fools of the right, people WON'T know the difference, and instead start using consistent terminology distinctly different from the professionally crafted right wing lies. TELL THE TRUTH and let its light expose the chicanery and nonsense of the word games they use to bully, bluff and bluster their hateful ideology through to policy.

In Simpson’s words to this Court, “I was a monster.”
One day in Cody, Wyoming, when Simpson was in high school, he and some friends “went out to do damage.” They went to an abandoned war relocation structure and decided to “torch” it. They committed arson on federal property, a crime now punishable by up to twenty years in prison if no one is hurt, and punishable by up to life in prison if the arson causes a person’s death. Luckily for Simpson, no one was injured in the blaze.
Simpson not only played with fire, but also with guns. He played a game with his friends in which they shot at rocks close to one another, at times using bullets they stole from the local hardware store. The goal of the game was to come as close as possible to striking someone without actually doing so. Again, Simpson was lucky: no one was killed or seriously injured.
Simpson and his friends went shooting throughout their community. They fired their rifles at mailboxes, blowing holes in several and killing a cow. They fired their weapons at a road grader. “We just raised hell,” Simpson says. Federal authorities charged Simpson with destroying government property and Simpson pleaded guilty. He received two years of probation and was required to make restitution from his own funds – funds that he was supposed to obtain by holding down a job.
... As he [Simpson] has described it, “The older you get, the more you realize . . . your own attitude is stupefying, and arrogant, and cocky, and a miserable way to live

"Kill the Grumps!*"

That was a chant in a sci fi teevee show back in maybe the
late '60's, '70's, that my brother Ed told me about once. We
were then in our 20's, 30's and thought it amusing!

The plot: When all else fails, when you're out of $ and
recources are spread too thin, there's one thing left to
do:

KILL THE GRUMPS!!

Somehow, I've never forgotten that chant; I never saw the
actual show.

But, now, whoa! I see it was prescient like so many other
far-out, unthinkable future dystopias conceived by the
writers and film makers!

It's starting...
The rhetoric is being devised, the propaganda, the death
camps (Oh, ha, ha, ha, you rednecks you), the triage in
medical care, the taxes on "cadillac policies"..they are
preparing the low infos.

Remember,  "Our strength is our diversity." Remember?
Repeated ad infinitum... Discontinued after 9/11 to be
reinstated in other words.

Over and over and over Big Brother chants it's latest evil
until it seem to many like plain truth.

KILL THE GRUMPS!!!

Out it! Be on the lookout for it, dear fellow Grumps! Expose
it when you hear/read/see it.  Email me and others when
you notice an instance. Pay attention! The email I'm
referring to is below.

It was a corruption of, or toddler talk for, "grown ups" and applied to all over 21. So, people in their 20s and 30s had no more room to be amused by killing people, as portrayed on that show, than did people in their 90s.
