(39,343 posts)I swear, one of those cops was really a lizard person with a crystal skull. I also saw his mason's ring next to his illuminati decoder ring.
Oh, and I bet he breads his chicken with corn flakes and breast feeds at Olive Garden.

(22,144 posts)I have read that it was voluntary, Nutmeg Yankee has a friend whose home was searched that said it was not.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/10022733235 is about a different local report
I really think this may be the right answer: http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=2732771

(45,319 posts)What's 'the gouge'? Is this a term from sport?
ProgressiveProfessor
(22,144 posts)I had to look up its origin. Its from the military though I heard it in many places in the Federal Gov
So in this context means in information or data. Good gouge would be good data, inside gouge would be inside information
Translation: The available information on this is contradictory and confusing

(867 posts)Wow! The people of Boston were brutalized by the bombers and then by the police.
On another note: I love those old houses.

No. No, no, no, I'm sorry, but this is UNACCEPTABLE in America.
Uh uh. This is the very definition of giving up freedom for security. There is NO JUSTIFICATION for this, terrorist or no terrorist.

(247 posts)The person that came to the door was immediately out the door, hands above head.
There was no discussion or time explaining their intentions.
They did it. They used the tragedy to determine just how far they could go before
people objected to the invasion of privacy. The news media is broadcasting one
Hero worship story after another. If anyone objected we will never hear about it
from them.
It's revolting to see this happen in this country. Next time this will be used for
a far less appropriate reason and there's nothing you can say about it. Little
Girls are handing cookies out to cops in Boston today. What a pretty picture.
Now just move along.

(8,514 posts)I saw one video on Youtube, where they were pointing a
f*&%ing ASSAULT rifle at a man with a baby in his arms! There is no excuse for this type of behavior. Terrorist, or no terrorist.

(15,689 posts)If the police had cause to believe the suspect was at this specific address, then that would be one thing. Just "searching and clearing" whole areas? No. Rousting people out of their homes at gunpoint, forcing them at gunpoint to keep their hands in the air even after they've been passed from one officer to another, forcing them at gunpoint to run, repeatedly frisking them even after they've passed from one point to another? No. This is not OK.
If i see police activity like this across the street at my neighbors' I am certainly not going to believe that there is any option to decline police entry - any option that won't mean gun barrels pressed to my face, pressure holds, and kicks administered to the groin "Stop resisting (KICK) Stop resisting, motherfucker! (KICK)". No reasonable person could see this as voluntary compliance situation, with every "request" being delivered in an angry yell punctuated with -NOW!!!! , while multiple officers are pointing military style weapons at you.
If you assure me compliance is voluntary, I'm certainly not going to comply with this shit. Me and mine are headed to the basement and pretend no one is home.

However, it is the only such video I've seen, so it's hard to say if this was the typical way it was handled. Also, I haven't heard of many reports of people complaining of searches handled in this way (that doesn't mean they don't exist though)
That being said, is there any more information on this search? Did they believe the suspect was actually in the house, as opposed to them doing a more precautionary type searches in others?

(247 posts)Videos of houses being searched? So many people, so many cameras, so few
videos. Of course media was kept at a distance and I would imagine from
what the MSM is telling us it would be extremely unpopular to question
authority at this time.

(82,383 posts)Is there anyone who was there who has any explanation? Why are we assuming it was a terrible thing? Do we not hear both or all sides before making judgments? Did the people at the house even complain? Who were they? Was every search like this? Was something different going on there?
