The legislators in states passing anti women legislation have no fear of them as voters. The fact that so many women seem to support laws that work against them controlling their own health care says volumes. For now we have a situation where there are free states and slave states where it comes women's reproductive rights.
Now women will be treated differently depending on what state they reside in. And I wonder how long it will take for women to be arrested and charged for crossing state lines to obtain services they are rightfully allowed to seek in one state and not another.
The country is being balkanized at the state level and the GOP and its allies are in the process of making the federal government irrelevant. Nullification is taking hold on women's issues as well as many others.
The fact that so many extreme legislators feel free to pass so many onerous laws seems to prove voting doesn't matter.

Voting matters. The key is to educate, agitate, and motivate. We are playing in a rigged system, and the only remedy is to bring out large numbers of voters.
Anything that inhibits participation is harmful to our chances.

(13,041 posts)I think a majority of women in those states agree with their republican men.
That is what is truly frightening.
Homeschooling by religious fanatics is not helping the situation.
Many of the women are trapped in a time warp and have been brainwashed beyond repair.
It is sad.

(114,904 posts)Women with means will always be able to get safe abortions in this country.
Furthermore as say in the body of your post, many women in these states support the anti-choice agenda, so how is it that voting doesn't matter? The majority in Kansas and ND and many other states support these legislatures and their agendas. In addition, this is a constitutional issue every bit as much, if not more, than a legislative issue and that's where the battles will be decided.
And no, the is no real danger of women being arrested for crossing state lines to obtain abortion services.
You consistently go for the drama when it comes to abortion rights and ignore the real dangers as posed by TARP laws.
