Progressive Change Campaign Committee takes Sen Baucus to task for not listening

to millions of Americans demanding greater gun controls.

"The Progressive Change Campaign Committee announced on Friday a new ad attacking Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.) for his vote against background checks.

The ad is the first of four in a $100,000 campaign targeting the Democratic senators who voted against the Manchin-Toomey amendment to expand background checks for firearm purchases. The other Democrats opposing the legislation were Sens. Mark Begich (Alaska), Mark Pryor (Ark.) and Heidi Heitkamp (N.D.)."

I think worse than his position on guns is his trashing of the ACA last week still_one Apr 2013 #1
They're really making a huge mistake to target Begich. scarletwoman Apr 2013 #2
Without caucus discipline you've got the current status quo, which sucks. delrem Apr 2013 #3

It's Alaska, I've lived there. It's either right wing nut job or Begich, period. Do you have any idea how hard it is to get a Democrat elected in Alaska? Begich was representing HIS constituents by voting as he did. The PCCC is just flat out wrong on this.

Besides that, I personally think that Republican voting Democrats (DINOs) are worse than Republicans.

It's a totally different planet up there. Totally different. Proposing new gun restrictions to Alaskans would be like asking them to give up their annual Permanent Fund Dividend checks. You just don't do it.

Leave Begich alone. He's not a bad man.

In some districts or states, a progressive Democrat can not win. (I've worked in four).

As I've only been there once as a child, but I grew up in the metro NYC area (I live in a red part of NJ now) which some would say is a 'liberal bubble'

It hit me hard in 2010 when I worked in a Blue Dog district that if the guy were more liberal he simply would not have won. As is he barely held on (lost in 2012). Since then I've worked in nothing but Blue Dog districts and being in the districts gave me an appreciation for Blue Dogs.

And I don't hate them. I hate Republicans.

you give a Democrat a pass for the exact same action? Sorry I cant do it. As tempting as it might be to label all Republicans bad and all Democrats good, I choose to go by principles. When 80% of Americans want some level of increased gun controls, I cant give a pass to anyone that votes against that.

I suspect that Baucus was voting the way his constituents wanted, which is exactly what he's supposed to do.
It's either Baucus, or, some RWNJ.

low-class SOB/corporate shill gets primaried. As a Montanan, he has a lot of 'splainin' to do about how he justifies his income for my satisfaction (and he probably never will spew forth a satisfactory explanation). He only represents ecologically damaging extractive industries, not any of we the real flesh and blood people. When he finally gets booted off the Hill, his dwellings and offices will need high powered steam blasters to get the filth out. It'll take a lot longer for the ecosystem in Montana to recover from his trail of deceit and gluttony that has gone on with impunity for far too long. The POS, he's one of those career politicians that IS the problem. I hope they stay on him until the election is over and I hope he loses. I may even vote for a republican just to get rid of this sorry excuse for a Senator.
