Russian Fleet Docks In Iranian Port Of Bandar Abbas

TEHRAN – A detachment of ships of the Russian Pacific Fleet on the way from Vladivostok to the Mediterranean Sea where Russia is forming a squadron entered the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas on an unofficial visit on Saturday, according to RIA Novosti and the Voice of Russia.

The detachment consisting of The Admiral Panteleyev major anti-submarine ship, The Admiral Nevelskoy and The Peresvet large landing ships, The Foty Krylov ocean-going rescue ship, and The Pechenga sea tanker left Vladivostok on the 19th of April to do combat duty in the world ocean.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported then that it has begun forming a separate Mediterranean squadron.

According to the public relations department of the Iranian Navy, Russian commanders are scheduled to meet with Iranian Navy officials during the stay of the Russian fleet in Bandar Abbas.
