Reese Witherspoon to arresting cop: "You're about to find out who I am"

something satisfying about seeing someone who pulls the "do you know who I am?" card, get arrested. And driving in the wrong lane? They should be thankful to the cop that he pulled them over.

Reese Witherspoon and husband Jim Toth were arrested over the weekend in a DUI-related incident in Atlanta, Ga. Variety reports that the Oscar-winning actress and CAA agent, who was operating the vehicle, were pulled over early Friday morning after a cop noticed the car driving in the wrong lane.

According to a police report obtained by Variety, "Mrs. Witherspoon began to hang out the window and say that she did not believe I was a real police officer. I told Mrs. Witherspoon to sit on her butt and be quiet."

The report continued: "Mrs. Witherspoon asked, 'Do you know my name?' I answered, 'No, I don't need to know your name.' I then added, 'right now.' Mrs. Witherspoon stated, 'You're about to find out who I am.'... Mrs. Witherspoon also stated, 'You're going to be on national news.' I advised Mrs. Witherspoon that was fine."

Witherspoon is charged with disorderly conduct for getting into a verbal fight with the police officer. Toth has been charged with driving while intoxicated.

humble and contrite can be difficult.

And so long as she's in demand as an actress (she's got four films in production at the moment), it'll remain difficult for her to have much humility. Arrogance, to a degree, is a desired trait in that field.

'Do you know my name' actually seems like a good question. Her husband's name is Toth. She might be Mrs Toth, or Ms Witherspoon, but not Mrs Witherspoon. He calls her this several times. It is not her name. Her question was 'do you know my name' perhaps because he was calling her by the wrong name.
Did he call Mr Toth 'Mr Witherspoon'? Just wondering.

Reese Witherspoon: 'I'm Very Sorry for My Behavior'

Following her arrest with her husband, Jim Toth, early Friday morning after he was pulled over under suspicion of driving while intoxicated in Atlanta, Reese Witherspoon has released the following statement through her rep.

"Out of respect for the ongoing legal situation, I cannot comment on everything that is being reported right now. But I do want to say, I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said," the statement says.

It continues: "It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that is no excuse. I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. The words I used that night definitely do not reflect who I am. I have nothing but respect for the police and I'm very sorry for my behavior."

She was drunk. Among other things that means impaired judgement. I have no reason not to believe her when she says she was frightened for her husband. And the other people on that road had a far more compelling reason to be frightened also.

I've heard stories she's not the nicest person in the world, but very, very protective of her image.

I don't do things like that. Never have. I'm honestly not an asshole, but even if I were, I wouldn't see the problem in calling asshole behavior what it is.

No mention of the "Do you know who I am?" bit...

PLAYBOY: "That must have been the time the papers came out with reports about Lennon running around town with a Tampax on his head."

LENNON: "The stories were all so exaggerated, but... We were all in a restaurant, drinking, not eating, as usual at those gatherings, and I happened to go take a pee and there was a brand-new fresh Kotex, not Tampax, on the toilet. You know the old trick where you put a penny on your forehead and it sticks? I was a little high and I just picked it up and slapped it on and it stayed, you see. I walked out of the bathroom and I had a Kotex on my head. Big deal. Everybody went 'Ha-ha-ha' and it fell off, but the press blew it up."
