Yes We CANNED!

If it looks as though Senator Mark Udall is in a warehouse speaking in front of a stack of canned veggies, that's because he is.

We are proud to have held our annual Roosevelt Dinner and fundraiser at the Weld Food Bank. We've long supported the food bank and local Democrats volunteer there regularly and often. Our dinner effectively launched this food bank's new ability to provide a venue for community events; there is now a professional kitchen with a professional chef, and our event was ably and deliciously catered by food bank staff.

Our silent auction fundraiser was a great success, with the added bonus of contributing to the food bank in the process. In contrast, the county GOP had its own event recently, in the grand ballroom at the university; they dined and danced under crystal chandeliers, we dined and danced while helping to feed hungry families. They've got glitz, we've got AWESOME!

4. Cool!! I participated in a canned food drive last year, it was fun.

There's a canned food event that nation wide engineering firms participate in called "CANstruction" (http://canstruction.org/). The idea is to donate cans and create sculptures out of them. Some are works of art. My firm donated something like 3,300 cans and we had one of the only completely solid structures in the competition.

How can people see that and be discouraged enough to give up? I mean, we all grow tired and down for awhile once in awhile, but give up? Never! Democrats ROCK!

What a wonderful idea! All food banks should be housed in warehouses, since it looks like this depression isn't going away anytime soon. Awesome is the word, for sure!
