1957 ?-To MLK Jr: ‘Why did God make Jesus white, when majority of peoples in world are non-white?"

In 1957, Martin Luther King Jr’s advice column in Ebony magazine received a letter that asked: ‘Why did God make Jesus white, when the majority of peoples in the world are non-white?’ King answered with the essence of his political and religious philosophy. He denied that the colour of one’s skin determined the content of one’s character, and for King there was no better example than Christ. ‘The colour of Jesus’ skin is of little or no consequence,’ King reassured his readers, because skin colour ‘is a biological quality which has nothing to do with the intrinsic value of the personality’. Jesus transcended race, and he mattered ‘not in His colour, but in His unique God-consciousness and His willingness to surrender His will to God’s will. He was the son of God, not because of His external biological makeup, but because of His internal spiritual commitment.’

If it were of little or no consequence, the idea that Jesus was white wouldn't have gotten established in the first place. It was of consequence to *someone*.

Do not forget that there had been centuries of Hellenic influence there among others. There was not a lot of Arab influence yet.
In fact..."In Asia, darker or mixed tinges of red hair can be found sporadically from Northern India, the northern Middle East (such as Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Israel, Palestine). Red hair can be found amongst those of Iranian descent, such as the Persians, Lurs, Nuristanis and Pashtuns."

and also!..

1 Samuel 16:12 "And he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy and had beautiful eyes and was handsome. And the LORD said, "Arise, anoint him, for this is he." - Holy Bible; English Standard Version.[30] 1 Samuel 17:41-43 "And the Philistine moved forward and came near to David, with his shield-bearer in front of him. And when the Philistine looked and saw David, he disdained him, for he was but a youth, ruddy and handsome in appearance."[31]
The Hebrew word for 'ruddy' used in the above passages is admoni, from the root 'DM (Strong's Concordance, #119) "to show blood (in the face), i.e. flush or turn rosy:--be (dyed, made) red (ruddy)."[32] [33] [34] "Admoni", reddish-brown, was the ideal colour for men, and indicates David's heroic nature.[35] The description led to a later Sephardic and Ashkenazi tradition that David was a red-head.

and God did not make Jesus any color, did he?
People with their own bias created the Brad Pitt like image that prevails today.
Based on location, Jesus who is Jewish would have been the same color as anyone else born in the same region.

from same linked article, above the Dr. King comment-

Edward J. Blum examines the depictions of Jesus’ race throughout the ages:

Because of America’s history and its contemporary demographics, there is almost no way to depict Bible characters without causing alarm. To call Jesus ‘black’ signals political values that are associated with the radical left. In 2008, President Obama’s pastor Jeremiah Wright almost cost him the Democratic nomination because of his claims that ‘Jesus was a poor black man’. However, to present Jesus as white in a society where African-Americans, Asian-Americans, and Latino Americans make up increasing numbers of the population is quickly understood as a code for a conservative worldview. Little wonder, then, that some Americans are choosing to describe Jesus as ‘brown’ as a way to avoid the white-black binary. If one attends an anti-conservative rally in the US, for instance, one is likely to find a poster that reads: ‘Obama is not a brown-skinned, anti-war socialist who gives away free health care. You’re thinking of Jesus.’

Had Jesus been born white, he would have really stood out in his part of the world. Heck, he would be placed on a no-fly list here in the US.

Cracker as in a gun-toting, dinosaur-riding, Ayn Rand-believing, American flag-waving white guy.

Cracker Jesus:

BTW, being a white guy, I'm allowed to call asshole southern so-called "Christians" crackers when it fits. I think this case qualifies.
