Greg Ball, a state senator in New York, suggested Friday that authorities should "torture" the captured Boston bombing suspect, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who is a naturalized American citizen and remains in serious condition at an area hospital.
So, scum bag #2 in custody. Who wouldn't use torture on this punk to save more lives?

In response to criticism, he told the Journal News that If people find that offensive, theyre going to have to check their own conscience."

(4,473 posts)Let me explain: The Second Vatican Council, in section 25 of its Dogmatic Constitution on the Church, Lumen Gentium said that there are three modes of infallible teaching in Catholicism. The first is an ex cathedra statement by the Pope; the second is the Pope and the bishops teaching in unison, what is called the "Ordinary and Universal Magisterium"; and the third is a declaration from a properly constituted ecumenical council -- such as Vatican II.
Now, in section 27 of Vatican II's Pastoral Constitution on the Church in the Modern World, Gaudium et Spes, torture is called malum in se -- "evil in itself". In section 80 of his encyclical Veritatis Splendor, Pope John Paul II called torture intrinsece malum -- "intrinsically evil". Thus, Mr Ball is required by his religion to reject torture under any and all circumstances. For him to do otherwise would be to reject a teaching from his Church that he is supposed to consider infallible.

(4,473 posts)And my conscience is perfectly clear. Mr Ball's conscience should be troubling him, since he is saying "Let's break the law! Let's do something that is illegal, immoral, and unreliable!"

(5,762 posts)This person is a shit stain on the state and the nation. Folks who know me know I've gone head-to-head with him several times (and required a shower afterwards). He is the ugliest caricature of tea party hate you can imagine. And he lives in my town. After one exchange, he wanted a photo op with me. I declined and beat a hasty retreat.
So, America, I am sorry. Those of us with hearts and consciences are trying hard to get rid of him. Regrettably, he has a lot of popular support in our very red little town.
