(978 posts)It's going to get competitive as more solar and wind comes on line. In March, most of the NEW energy produced came from solar and wind than from gas or goal. Alternative energy still lags behind in production but it's going to catch up as more systems come online
When someone installs a solar system on their home, on some days, the home will produce more energy then it needs and feeds that electricity back into the grid. Essentially, these home are mini power plants.
My home, for the month of April, has already produced more electricity from solar, this month, then we've used. If we continue to add thousands more solar homes per year to the grid it's going to really make a difference in addition to the larger solar plants installed on large buildings.
We have a huge power plant in the sky, we should take advantage of it.

No fuel material, no drilling, mining, processing?

Replacing nuclear and coal plants with a solar-wind-gas power wouldn't bother the natural gas industry at all.
