Boston Suspect's Shootout - Why Not Revive Gun Control Effort?

I have been reading how right wing, racist politicians are saying that the Boston bombing will slow down the immigration bill, which provides a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants. Of course, the suspects were not undocumented, so their immigration status should be irrelevant to the bill under consideration.

However, the brothers juist engaged in a shootout with cops and killed one cop and hijacked a motorist with a gun. Yet, I don't see the media pushing the meme that the Bostom bombing is going to have any impact on the gun control debate. Instead, the only meme being pushed is that the bombing is somehow relevant to immigration reform and that it will hurt passage.

Liberal media indeed.

The congress is scared of being primaried by opponents who would be funded by the NRA. Nothing will happen until the system is reformed.

Waiting for the Congress as it is currently comprised to pass reform is going to accomplish nothing. We need to identify members of Congress who are on the NRA's dole and target them.

...even though it is clear that they were not undocumented immigrants who are the primary subject of reform efforts.

Is it just a coincidence, or is Fox News pushing the same RW tripe, with the rest of the media lapping it up. As for the gun control angle, perhaps they could use the facts that come out to further craft the gun control bill. Afterall, a 19 year old who is too young to drink is old enough to pack heat without any additional safeguards? It does not make sense.
