My wife raised the question: where are they going to try Tsarnaev?

Her view is that you couldn't get an impartial jury in Boston, but given the coverage, I'm not sure you'd find one somewhere else.

That law requires that the person be tried in the federal district in which the crime occurred, but that the defendant can request a change of venue. Then they typically opt for a nearby district.

Can he plead guilty, and have a lawyer negotiate for him, and be sentenced by a judge? James Earl Ray did that.

Just like McVeigh did, he was tried in Denver.

His trial was moved to Colorado I believe. I imagine we'll see similar in this case.
