Because Democrats don't believe in self help, or the ability for people to work their way up, or for people to be able to work independently ? But that's what you get from the Republicans all too often nowadays, that all Democrats are lazy and that we just want to shell out money inefficiently and have created a "Moocher Class" that comprises half of American Society (Can't say I can complain about when the Republicans said that one though, hearing Mitt Romney speak is generally a wonderful thing during election years for us).

The republican ideal is to get rich enough to be able to bribe officials to provide enough government money to their businesses so that they don't have to actually do anything.
