Government works!

Looking at the applause for our first responders,I think of what Barney Frank had said. A tax cut wouldn't have helped us out of the Boston bombings. You need first responders like cops,ATF,FBI,and much more. That's good government in action. That's why we pay taxes;to get services like these when we need them.

2. I hate to point this out however, if gov't. had truly worked

neither 9/11 or the Boston marathon bombings would have
happened in the first place. And, in the case of Boston, ordinary
citizens were crucial to apprehending the bombers with their
enhanced photos, I.D. by one of the victims and the man who
discovered bomber #2 in the boat. imho

3. But the hated video cameras were able to bring this info together. nt

4. They helped but in the end it was a high quality photo randomly

taken that allowed the gentleman who lost both legs to
nail the i.d......and, the small part of how this happened and
why in the first place. The gov't knew about bomber #1 and
ceased to follow up.

I wouldn't paint such a broad stroke without qualifiers though. Let's be honest with ourselves and not get carried away in the moment.
