But love trumps hate.

Never stoop to their level. That is when they win.

Move forward in love, and leave the hate, the haters, the hateperps, the right, behind.

We would all do well to remember it. I get right in the dirt and go for a hate, quite often, but I know it is counterproductive.

I did a meditation retreat (in 1976) and after sitting in silence for ten days I became very aware, alert, and conscious, my demands and expectations barely registered and I felt as though, I was emitting love from my heart. I was genuinely happy. The darma talks made so much sense. I experienced insightful realizations about loving the unlovable as a real agent of change.

I came back to earth in a few weeks but for a short time I walked in Christ-like love.

18. Harry Chapin's The Night that Made America famous comes to mind.

and I don't consider myself religious.

Love and Hate can be (is) either religious or non-religious.

It's very hard (especially on a political debate board) to remember that. It's very easy to
engage in a back and forth.

Harry Chapin's song "The Night that Made America Famous" really is applicable to this specific event.
About 60s/70s hippies living in a house that catches fire in a town where they are not liked by all and their house in the middle of the night has a major fire.
And the fire department of the town (is a volunteer fire department) gets the call and they debate among themselves should they answer the call, knwoning who/what is burning.
And one fireman, a plumber goes to the fire.

And the two sides after the fire is put out come together.

"It's funny when you get that close, it's kind of hard to hate"

Naive? Perhaps.

But this song came true in a town known to be a very liberal town.
And at the end after they caught the haterperp who was still alive, all the people in the town cheered and roared and waved at the law enforcement cars as they packed up and left.

Perhaps for a single day, in that town a suburb of a major city, and in the towns all across America who were watching, nobody cared if the firemen and all the law enforcement were
Democratic party or Republican party and hate disappeared.

I am going to post the Harry Chapin song in a separate post in the video & multimedia section here.

I could never figure out how they "knew" this little imaginary creature was gay just because it was lavender and carried a purse. Kind of like some animals out there, I hadn't yet discovered how to determine the gender of Teletubbies...

Montana Republicans to Seek Toothpaste Ban in 2013]

“Many youngsters today — especially older ones — laugh at the idea of Biblical health care traditions. The Bible has taken a back seat to other priorities. In its absence, oral hygiene has crept in.”
