After they released the pics? I don't recall hearing.

1. They had a description from Jeff Baumann (who lost both legs to the bomb)

that description, apparently, was crucial in their making the identification.

Baumann gave them a description which allowed them to find them on tapes. But they didn't have names until the pics went public.

20. I think report was a tip on the pics, they zeroed in on the older guy.

But it's hard to know now. Things moved so quickly.

The older guy had a girlfriend and had been going to college. He also boxed at a high level and presumably did that at a club regularly. So lots of people would have known him.

Guy lost his legs. The first thing he does, even as he's in morphine dreamland, is to finger the perpetrators.

He's a real hero in this case, especially if he was key, which apparently he may have been.

identified the bomber he saw, the investigators found the name through driver license photos.

earlier today, and I also heard it discussed on NPR. The guy knew one of the boys. The car had been at his shop (in Cambridge, I think) and they were anxious to get it back by Tuesday. The guy couldn't get it fixed in time. When the first photos were released, he thought that looks like him, but it can't be. He's a nice kid. But when the photo from the 7-11 came out, he knew it was him for sure and he called the cops. Evidently he felt terribly guilty for not calling earlier when he hadn't been so certain.

30. I didn't see any names disclosed until well after the first one was dead.

I assumed they ran his prints and matched them to his visa or whatever if he wasn't already carrying ID. Coming up with his brother wouldn't take long after that.
