why don't they ask him to give himself up. Make an appeal to him. I'm sure if he is listening - this might be just what he needs. If he doesn't hear that from them - all he can think is that they are going to kill him. I think that would make him more desperate or dangerous.

He's had a long night and day - if he isn't sleeping somewhere - he's got to be real tired and maybe just looking for the right words from the officials - so that he can give up.

They didn't even try to make that appeal to him. Others on the news shows made that appeal - but I think it needs to come from the police/FBI.

and the guy saying he should give himself up - was too gruff and businesslike. The Governor or Mayor should make that appeal to White Hat and they should be a little more gentle in their request. Something like saying we know you must be tired. We are too. We don't want to have to hurt you. It's the right thing to do. Please - just give yourself up.
