filled the entire street with smoke. Then the older brother ran shooting straight at the cops, while the younger brother got back in the vehicle and drove right toward them. The smoke is probably what allowed him to drive away.

Still seems odd that there were no cops in an outer ring waiting, just in case the inner ring failed to stop them.

It was dark - the car could have been rigged.

Only a handful of police were on scene - surprise, darkness and IEDs may have allowed him to escape.
