Just for fun, I tuned into Mr. Limbaugh's radio show.
Ok, a guest host today... I only tuned in because I had enough of NPR's coverage and wanted to hear something else. Whoever was on has demonstrated he does not understand the process of how permanent residents should act when they are to leave the USA for an extended period. He cited the example of a colleague or friend who went to work overseas for six months as a US government employee and having a hard time getting though immigration and customs controls. The thing is... if you're going to leave for an extended period you let USCIS know. There is this thing called a re-entry permit that means you're not given a hard time for an extended leave for up to two years. USCIS can consider your permanent resident status abandoned if there is a 6 month gap between leaving and reentry.
I didn't listen to the rest of the programming because I had got home. But it just riles me when facts are ignored and certain points are omitted for convenience of demonstrating a point.
Of course the guy was demonstrating his intense disagreement with David Sirota's opinion piece... and drawing on the Chechnya connection, connecting dots to places that are already disproven.. There is too much not known right now and we can speculate all we want ... but I am kind of fond of hard cold facts - even in opinion pieces. This was missing from what I heard on that broadcast, not based upon actual facts.
