So much of the time on DU too many condemn ALL LE officers because of the bad behavior of a few. I think this crisis has revealed the value of LE and their overall POSITIVE contribution to society. THIS is what the vast majority of police officers do -- their job.
Bravo for a job well done!

(22,271 posts)We've no idea what happened and why. I'd like to recognize these LE officers who have been working tirelessly to secure the neighborhoods in an orderly manner and are selflessly putting their lives on the line.
But thanks for shitting on the thread!

This is a low blow to people that live in Boston
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Fri Apr 19, 2013, 05:52 PM, and the Jury voted 1-5 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: Well, it does seem like he got away.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: C'mon...so now the good people of Boston are perfect and so is their police department?
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: Harmless analogy. Lighten up morons.
Juror #4 voted to HIDE IT and said: No explanation given
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: As I have said several times before as a jury member - oh for crying out loud. Someone alerted on this"?
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given
Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

on a regular basis, and get relatively little monetary reward.
In Illinois, as in other places, I suspect, they're even going after their pensions and those of
other public employees, and that really sucks in my opinion.

Oh, and don't call a cop if you get robbed or if somebody hits your car. You act like they're not worth the dirt under your feet. It makes me sick.
Logical
(22,457 posts)Well, I did call the police when my car got broken into. They did not do anything but take a police report. No finger prints, no looking for evidence, never heard from them again Nothing. Police report for insurance only. So thanks for the suggestion.
Most cops never even fire their weapon during a career. So drop that shit.
And here is a stat for you! "A cop today is about as likely to be murdered on the job as someone who merely resides in about half of the country's 75 largest cities."
LOL, do more reading. You watch too much TV.

(39,215 posts)had let the domestic law enforcement handle the crime instead of the CIA and military. It would have probably taken longer than a week but it would not have led to two wars that cost enough to break the country and all the dead and wounded that now are out there.

Like you point out, it would not have been able to be used as an excuse for two awful wars.

Of course I'm not much of a law breaker though, never was 'cepting when I was a pot smoker. That being the lawlessness of mine
