Memorial Service Marks 20th Anniversary Of Branch Davidian Fire

WACO (April 19, 2013)—Some of the survivors of the fiery end to the 51-day standoff at the Branch Davidians compound gathered Friday at a Waco museum for a memorial service to mark the 20th anniversary of the deadly fire outside of Waco.

As many as 80 died in the fire, including women and children.

One survivor read the names of the dead Friday morning.

The standoff at Mount Carmel started on Feb. 28, 1993 after Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms agents launched a massive raid on the compound in a rural area near Elk.
