http://money.cnn.com/2013/04/18/investing/gun-stocks/index.html?hpt=hp_t5On Thursday, the first full trading session since the bill was defeated, gun stocks lagged, and analysts fear this might be part of a wider trend.
In recent months, the fear of new restrictions has driven gun sales to all-time highs. Now, that incentive could be gone.
Alliant's (ATK, Fortune 500) stock price dropped 1.5% Thursday, after seeing its shares surge 38% over the last year. Ammunition maker Olin Corp. (OLN) fell 1.2%, after climbing more than 13% over the last year. Smith & Wesson Holding Corp. (SWHC) managed a 1.7% gain Thursday, while Sturm, Ruger (RGR) slipped 1.5%.
The stock price for Cabela's (CAB), a retailer dependent on gun sales, dropped nearly 5%.

(18,318 posts)1. You kidding? Now I can get ammo at a reasonable price.
So many controllers make it a point of pride NOT to keep up with the issues, or even of standard news reporting.

may have to cut their contributions to the NRA!

(34,127 posts)3. ARs, mags of all sizes, and ammo prices are falling.
I'd say they are still 25 - 50% higher than they were prior to the Nov election, but not nearly as high as they were between Dec and March.
For example, Bushmaster ARs are now below $1000.

What kind of stock analysis is this? Cabela's sells a shitload of other outdoor gear from flashlights to 20 foot+ fishing boats, way beyond firearms.
In fact their gun department was so stripped clean in our local store they had to lay off some of the workers. Nothing to sell.
