namely, that focusing on actual clues, logic, and hard work creates a situation in which people like the Chechen brothers get flushed out in a few days.
Imagine the world of shit we'd live in if law enforcement applied the "expertise", "logic", and "gut reactions" of certain people here and on Free Republic, and certainly the news media.
Thank heavens for trained, dispassionate professionals without agendas.

(570 posts)It seemed that they were just responding to calls of disturbances and only subsequently realized that it was the marathon bombers. But, in all this mess, I could easily be wrong.

(570 posts)However, I also think crowd sourcing helped with identification and that the chase started not as an intentional effort to get the bombers.
I'm not arguing that we don't need any kind of law enforcement or that the officers aren't key in this operation. But, I think how this event is viewed as being handled may have major consequences in how we proceed with security laws, funding, etc.
