I wonder why the suspect hasn't reached out via social media

To explain what the heck is going on, in his worldview.

Seems strange that he isn't.

No conspiracy theory here. Just an observation about how "the younger generation" lives on social media, but not a peep / twitter / Facebook update / live journal, etc.

Smart phones make accessing things easy, and there are services that hide "where" you are posting from.

I am not making a comment implying approval or interest beyond criminal prosecution/future prevention information.

I am just saying it seems odd.

or so and could have easily dropped his phone somewhere. I don't think it's odd at all for a fugitive currently on the run and in hiding after a shootout with the police, is unavailable all of a sudden.

That those features can either be disabled or gotten around through use of different services.

It seems like something one would google, if one were going to do this type of crime. What is the point of "terrorism" if no one knows why you did it?

In interviews for boxing photo series and website postings -
He has posted links to videos of fighters in the Syrian civil war and to Islamic web pages with titles like "Salamworld, my religion is Islam" and "There is no God but Allah, let that ring out in our hearts".

Now, hiding is more important until a cop gets a bullet to split a skull and end this.

12. Not ridiculous for a generation that "lives" on social media.

GPS blocking services exist. He has had several days since Monday, and they have only been on his trail with photos since yesterday.

Dismiss it if you want; I am simply remarking on the oddity of "terrorizing" people without a motive.

the feds are checking out possible iPhone etc--they are exploring this avenue, but probably wouldn't advertise it at this point if they had succeeded

If I was going to do something like this (hypothetical!), I would want people to know why. "I am doing this because (fill in the blank)."

Then again, I am not a terrorist, so my "logic" may not be valid.
