Thank goodness the media identified the suspects as "dark complexion". The media has done so much

since deregulation.

It was only a few days ago that media representatives in much of the media were attacking our president because he did not come out immediately and say it was a terrorist attack. It is so much better to panic and spout of any bullshit as they did when Gabby Gifford was shot, or we invaded Iraq based on a lie.

I think the best one I heard was on the local media here in the bay area. A radio personality, ronn owens was jumping on board how bad can was in reporting that they had been captured when they had it, but then turned around and said the people aren't off the hook either. They demand us to get stores out fast, so we don't have time, so it is our fault too.

The media in this country is a joke, and there used to be code of ethics and standards which is long since vanished since Bill Clinton signed the communication act of 2000.

away since deregulation

It all feeds into the frenzy of yellow journalism

Before deregulation there was a requirement to check and recheck multiple sources to get the story straight.

Yes, I do believe all this has brought back to the tabloid journalism that exists in the entire industry. It is not run as public service, but as entertainment

7. There was no such requirement.

Because that would require government reviews a story prior to release. Except in case of war or state secrets no such situation has existed, nor would the courts tolerate it.

I would also add that ethics are what you have in the absence of rules/oversight. Reporters base much of their declarations on sources. In a rapidly developing situation such as this the services compete to be the first one to break the big story. It's sloppy, it's careless and it's an embarrassment to their profession but I doubt regulation will alleviate these mistakes.

2. I would be in favor of going back to only have Dan Rather on CBS with Al Shapton.

If everyone else went away in the media, all the talking heads, etc. were vanquished, I would not miss anyone else.

But of course, people hated Dan Rather & Mary Mapes and sold him down the river, even though his info was 100% correct. Even people Dan thought were friends sold him down the river

It's not deregulation that had anything to do with it.

It's the 24/7/365 spin on all sides.

perpetuated from the MSM, made sure that the truth never got out.

The media industry for the most part is now and entertainment industry, not to provide a public service, which at one time in this country was a requirement, at least for certain portion of time
