I went to bed around 4. Here is what was known at the time.

There was possibly a dead guy.
There was a naked guy.
There was a guy pictured on the ground at gun point. It was likely the guy on the ground was innocent, but it wasn't clear if he was the naked guy.

The guys named on police scanners were Mulugeta and Tripathi. Now they are brothers and their last name is Tsarnaev.

So what's going on?

2. Boston and Watertown locked down

With a bomb strapped to his chest, one of the Boston Marathon suspects was killed early Friday after he and his accomplice robbed a 7-Eleven, shot a police officer to death, carjacked an SUV and hurled explosives out the window in an extraordinary firefight with law enforcement, authorities told NBC News.
The second suspect — the one in the white hat in photos released by the FBI — was on the loose, and police ordered people in the Boston suburb of Watertown to stay in their homes and businesses not to open. Boston shut down its buses and subway system for the hunt.
The suspects are brothers with the last name Tsarnaez, law enforcement officials told NBC News. Two law enforcement officials told NBC News that both men had international ties, had been in the United States about a year, were in their early 20s and had military experience.

Naked guy not related, wrong place/wrong time; same for guy on ground.

No muguleta or tripathi. Tsarnaev brothers robbed a 7/11, hijacked a car, ended up in watertown, older shot and run over by the car and died; was wearing IED vest that detonated.

#2 at large; huge manhunt on now. Watertown, suburbs, and boston on lockdown; SHELTER IN PLACE. NO public transport.

4. Where to start

1.) Suspect in black hat was shot and killed (possibly also IED'd himself) during shootout in Watertown, MA.
2.) Naked guy was an uncooperative bystander who has since been released
3.) Guy on the ground was also a bystander

Initial reports on the names were wrong. There was a rumor earlier (when the pics came out) that a missing Brown student was the guy in the white hat. Late last night the police scanner reported that name as one of the suspects. Around maybe 5:30 we found out it is these guys from Chechnya.

5. They've bee here a lot longer than a year.

I heard on msnbc that they've lived in the US several years, the younger one had a scholarship from City of Cambridge to attend college.

6. turn on the TV

they give updates every few minutes....but for now:

The older brother was either killed in a fire fight with police or blew himself with IED he had tapped to his body.....
The naked guy was an innocent bystander and was released....he was the guy lying on the ground
The brothers are from Chechnya which is near Russia
They came here with their family in 2002-2003
Their names are Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, the brother on the run..the dead brother's name was Tamerlan
