Enough is Enough
Written on April 18, 2013
Sometimes you dont know whether to laugh or cry. When press conferences about the terrorism at the Boston Marathon are cancelled because of a terrorist threat to the Federal Building there, or when news coverage of the attempted delivery of letters carrying the lethal poison Ricin to the president (and others) is interrupted with the breaking news of a massive explosion at a fertilizer factory near Waco, Texas . . . . what do we do?
Where are we, Truthseekers? How many more of these back-to-back national crises can our collective psyche withstand?
Where to even begin the discussion of recent events? Was the West, Texas fertilizer factory explosion an accident, or was it yet another planned murderous attack to coincide with the Waco siege that ended almost 20 years ago, exactly?
Theres the absurd, almost darkly comical arrest of Paul Kevin Curtis, an Elvis impersonator from Mississippi, in the attempted mailing of letters laced with Ricin to President Obama and Mississippi Senator Roger Wicker earlier this week. The eerie parallel with the Anthrax mailings following the 9-11 attacks is noted as well.
The memorial service today in Boston was gut-wrenching, and painfully reminiscent of the recent services for the victims of the Newtown, CT massacre. Worse, it grinds the salt into our fresh wounds from yesterdays stunning defeat in the Senate of the Manchin-Toomey compromise bill to apply the same background checks at gun shows as they already apply to gun shops.
Todays Republican gloating over the the defeat of this meager gun control initiative (which was supported by 90% of Americans) is sickening, especially given the bloody, violent horrors weve witnessed this week. In particular, Mitch Mcconnells Facebook page, cruel and insensitive mocking the victims of Sandy Hook, is despicable, if not surprising.
We cant expect any compassion from these conservatives, Truthseekers. The question is, can we make it until the end of April?

(10,419 posts)It's the way it works in the animal world. Mr. pig doesn't need to set an alarm, because his son, Darth Kitty, jumps on his chest and kneads with his paws until he gets up. Darth's sister, Peewee, sits there and talks to us.
They are so darned smart.

Olivia is very good, she waits until I get up to eat. She cracks me up when she walks on my head. I always had dogs so the first time she scared me when she did it in the middle of the night. Now she sleeps with me so I'm used to it.

(10,419 posts)Pee squeaks all the time - "awr-awr-awr". Darth hardly vocalizes at all. Mr. pig says "He's like me - he doesn't talk much".
They sure understand us, though. As in "do you want snicky-snacks?" and "OK - we know you need 'ffection" (time for cuddles and noogies).

(41,505 posts)Olivia talks when I'm putting her food in her bowl. I guess she's telling me to hurry up she's starving. I'll have to try asking her if she wants snacks. What do you give them?

(10,419 posts)But they became really pricey and we found that the little monsters seemed to enjoy dried Fancy Feast as much. Comes in turkey, seafood, and filet mignon flavors.
We keep the bag in a sealed tub, and when Mr. pig opens it up going "MMMMM....MMMMM" they hover around him.
The stuff comes in a plastic air-filled bag, and when I come back from the grocery with potato chips or something similar and try to put stuff away, guess who's there trying to gnaw through the bag (with that little "gnaw-gnaw" thing that they do).
