Passionate Santorum to engage Right to Life of Southwest Indiana at The Centre

Former Sen. Rick Santorum said today he will issue a ringing call to arms at tonight's Right to Life of Southwest Indiana annual banquet at The Centre.

Santorum, a Pennsylvania Republican who made a strong but unsuccessful bid for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination, told journalists in a 4 p.m. news conference at The Centre that anti-abortion activists must fight as hard as ever.

"No society that treats certain people with less human rights than others -- and particularly a fundamental right like life -- long survives, because it's on a downhill slope," he said.

Santorum recalled the U.S. Supreme Court's Roe vs. Wade decision, which gave women the right to an abortion, as a time when many political analysts predicted opposition to legal abortion would crumble.
