Bombers didn't leave the scene. Strolled checking the carnage.

It's CNN, but with that substansial caveat...

According to "sources" in vids and pix the guys are still there during the rescue efforts, checking it all out. (They think the detonation was remote, not a timer)

If there are pictures of the men enjoying their handiwork I'd guess that Massachusetts may argue themselves that this be a federal trial, since it would be "death penalty eligible"... which would miss the point of a state not having the death penalty, but people are people. I suspect it would be a federal death penalty case in every scenario, but the detail is so chilling that I can see public reaction getting even stronger.

Hoisted the canvas turned her into the wind
We’ll hang ‘em high for justice and the whole world will see
Now off with their heads boys and bring ‘em to me

eta: Reminds me of the words of a Mexican song by Alejandro Sanz:

y es que yo nunca creí que te vería remendando mis heridas con jirones de tu piel

(And I never thought I would see you healing my wounds with patches of your skin)

So be it.

and there is a special Federal statute since 911 that apparently makes this the case. Besides the fact that MA has no death penalty so the pressure would be enormous to bring it into Federal courts (qualifier: I am opposed to the death penalty, but just relaying info).

Unfortunately you can't trust anything that comes out of that news organization.

It is CNN bullshit. Here's photo proof: #2 leaving with the rest, trying to appear calm, which is strange considering the fear so many people show (except the fat guy drooling over the distressed woman's breasts):
