(2,121 posts)Either they chose that clothing just to try to blend in, or they really dress like that as they are American citizens themselves.
Floyd_Gondolli
(1,277 posts)The 9/11 hijackers were wearing American/western style clothes, too. Doesn't amount to much IMO.

(89,247 posts)you know how people of certain ethnicity but are american can go to the old country where most people are of the same race and/or religion but people can still tell they are american ?

(25,245 posts)He does look Middle Eastern, but it would be very difficult to decipher the various ME ethnic groups from surveillance photos.

(25,245 posts)Can't see the guy in the dark cap. He's got his cap down. I also wonder if the guy in the dark cap is wearing sunglasses?
They guy in the white cap appears to be casually texting with relaxed body language.
The guy in the dark cap appears to have guarded body language.

The other thing that struck me - and I realize the pics aren't the best quality, but I swear, do all the pictures of a single guy - look all that similar. Not for either man. Weird camera angles. Lighting. The pics just look almost like different people.
(And just to be very clear - yes, I know there are two suspects with two sets of pictures. I'm talking about each individual with their own set of pictures. . . )
TalkingDog
(9,001 posts)I can tell you that both the degree of clarity (pixel count) and the inherent flatness of a 2-D image, can greatly screw up your perception of what a person looks like.

(39,313 posts)Hair dye or fake facial hair could throw you off
TalkingDog
(9,001 posts)There are all kinds of parameters of facial measurement. Facial recognition software will be helpful here.
flamingdem
(39,313 posts)if they saw one of those caps they'd remember, I wouldn't.
I think that these guys can hide the resemblance to the images with fake facial hair or hair coloring.
Even a different kind of hat or dress would confuse the impression enough with such blurry images

That would be the quickest get-away I presume in a crowded festival-type environment, where getting a car in and out quickly wouldn't be feasible.

(2,654 posts)I once overheard someone comment that a local politician (a good-looking young man) seemed to look different in each newspaper photograph showing him throughout the course of a particular campaign season. Differences in camera lenses and lighting can account for some of the variations. However, I think that some people have faces which, when there are only subtle changes in expression and photography angles, can produce surprisingly divergent photographic impressions.
anneboleyn
(5,611 posts)identifying him as he looked very different depending on the angle of the image, his hair, expression, etc. So this definitely does seem to happen.

(20,709 posts)Otherwise, you'd think he'd keep the cap on forward, to partially hide is face.

(111,078 posts)If the black caps sets his bomb, then he will set his. Otherwise, he's not gonna do it. Once the first bomb went off, the black hat bomb, then the white hat just dropped his where he was standing. I wonders if the plot was planned here in this country, because they had to buy the supplies here, or if it was planned in another country, and they simply flew in a day or two early for the Marathon and they have now landed in another country? If the latter, they will not be able to keep their mouths shut and someone will be taking credit for it in the next couple of days? Keep your radio tuned to the Iranian or Yemeni station. If Iranian, we have our excuse for the next war...

(17,742 posts)How are these guys different from the other hundreds of guys with backpacks walking around?
riderinthestorm
(23,272 posts)so I'm guessing the video of them leaving the backpacks doesn't show them as clearly.
The FBI agent in charge of the investigation called them suspects which means they are far more than 'persons of interest". He also said they had the video of them dropping the bags and leaving the site. Furthermore, he said they also have video of the guy in the white hat making a cell phone call....
Calling them suspects is certainly a serious step imho and indicates they have some shots that are pretty strong.
Warren DeMontague
(80,708 posts)indicate just that; i.e. leaving a backpack.
It's hard to tell, but that's sort of what it looks like to me. If that's where one of the bombs went off, it's pretty damning evidence.
riderinthestorm
(23,272 posts)backpacks in the exact places where the bombs went off. They each did this just 10 minutes before the bombs went off.
While we don't have those vids, according to the lead investigator, they exist.

(65,616 posts)Guessing their nationality etc.. is really silly. Do we forget we are the melting pot? Good luck with your speculations.

(80,708 posts)I don't care at all about what nationality they are, any of it, I just want them caught ASAP.
