Had a customer tell me he's sure that the Boston Marathon attack, (and the 2 as of yet unsubstantiated reports of a bomb found in Miami and one in Key West) are proof that the govt. is behind it so they can take away our guns.
It was all I could do not to laugh in his face as I told him that is completely ridiculous.
I did kinda chuckle a bit though.

(14,400 posts)I'm sure that are certain that Obama either ordered the Newtown massacre of little kids or simply faked it to gin up anti-gun fever in a preliminary step to take away guns.
The level of stupid and certifiable crazy among these nutjobs is something else.

Too many of those idiots are on the verge of creating self-fulfilling prophecies,
ready and willing to go out in a blaze of glory to stick it to the big bad
government..

(2,979 posts)You are quite correct.
They just don't have the mental capacity to recognize that all this crazy shit they're doing to try to keep their guns is extremely counterproductive to their "cause".
The NRA may have won this battle, but the war is far from over.

No, I think they've been spouting their ridiculous bullshit unchecked for entirely too long now.
Everyone should call them out at every opportunity.

Which isn't as bad as the time the Pentagon and CIA recommended to JFK we launch an all-out nuclear attack on the USSR in Fall of 1963.
We used to talk about misplaced authority a lot on DU, before it became de rigueur to side with plausible deniability.

(12,296 posts)... But there's a fair amount of dyed-in-the-wool tinfoilers around here, too.
Our side is no saner than the other, for the most part.
