(2,593 posts)appeal to them, but knew it was akin to pissing in the wind. I won't expend any more energy in that effort. I'll attend rallies and financially contribute what I can to the fight.
I'll use my vote accordingly, as well, but in this backward state, that will not be very effective either. Power to those whose votes can make a difference. I feel totally powerless.

The day after Newtown, I was at the grocery store and saw a guy wearing an NRA hat.

(2,593 posts)recent events. When Johnny Isakson first ran for the Senate, I was fairly new to Georgia. A good Democratic friend told me what a good guy he was. A moderate, she said, who would be a good Senator. Well, Johnny has followed his party's lead as it became more and more strident, intransigent and obstructionist. No remnants of moderation there.
I know the kind of person Saxby Chambliss is from the campaign he ran against Max Clelland, but since he's not running for reelection, I hoped he might surprise me on this one vote.
Small glimmers of hope easily dashed.

(2,840 posts)if Mark Pryor would have voted for cloture on this, that would be interpreted as a vote in favor of the bill, and that would cause his defeat next November. Then Arkansas would have TWO Republican senators. That's certainly not what I want, thank you very much.
