We donated to the Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND) campaign TWICE through Act Blue last year

I contacted her office after Rachel pointed out on her show pro-gun comments Heidi made after Newtown and let her know we would not support her ever again IF she didn't change her ways on this issue.

Marta and I are in on this below.

Never again after today: The Democrats who voted against reform are Max Baucus (D-MT), Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND), Mark Pryor (D-AR), Mark Begich (D-AK). Donate $3 to hold them accountable: https://secure.actblue.com/contribute/page/gun_newspaper?refcode=https://secure.actblue.com/contribute/page/gun_newspaper/?refcode=e1-national-gun-img

4 weak Senate Democrats voted "no" because they fear gun owners voting against them.

So our newspaper ads hold them accountable by mobilizing gun owners for reform.

Can you donate $3 to help us place these ads in Montana, Arkansas, Alaska, and North Dakota -- and escalate our pressure in the next leg of the fight?

Donate below or by mail.

You can also donate to the PCCC Strategic Fund to support our big-picture campaign finance reform work -- to reduce the influence of gun manufacturers and other corporations.

(Max Sieben Baucus (born December 11, 1941) is the senior United States Senator from Montana and a member of the Democratic Party. Serving in the U.S. Senate since December 15, 1978 is one of the safest seats in the Senate BTW)

(NOTE: The ad on the right is a sample ad. Each ad will be tailored to the state.)

2. They did it again. There are always just enough Democrats to stop good legislation from passing.

It's been going on for years. Then these four will get to vote for something popular with liberals so we'll forget about this vote. It's a pattern.

This should not be forgotten, we watched this pattern throughout the past ten years. You would almost think it was planned. In the past, it worked, we forgot, the game goes on.

Let's stop the game and hold them accountable for votes for like.

Thanks for the link, good idea. But it will mean nothing if everyone cheers them on when they get their chance to vote for something we like, and another four will take the fall on, say Social Security.

3. They were given cover to vote "no" by the lack of one Republican

Four Democrats (plus Reid, who had to vote no for procedural reasons) mean that even if all five of these Democrats had voted yes, there would still have been 59 votes in favor--one short of the 60 required to break a filibuster. If there had been one or two more Rs voting for, they could not have gotten away with it. Neat trick to have stacked the numbers this way.

I suppose that it also gave my Republican senator, Mark Kirk, cover to vote FOR the background checks legislation. Strange world, isn't it.

7. I wonder how much input the NRA has to these votes, or all of the big Corps, like Monsanto. Do they

have people working on the numbers for them?

Nothing would surprise me. The end result regardless of how they actually voted is the people lost, again.

Also, I would have preferred the 59 votes with all Democrats voting for it. At least we would know all Dems will vote with their party on important issues and we can count on the to do so.

I wonder if your Senator would have voted for it if he knew all Dems were going to do so.

All I know is this has happened way too often whenever there is an important vote. They all should be primaried.

6. Heitkamp was given a pass...she would have voted Yay had passage been possible

Don't get me wrong: I'm spitting nails mad at the whole lot of them, but once they saw they didn't have the votes, they gave the gun state senators a pass to vote nay.

The gunners are predictably acting like the triumphalist shitheads that they are. They gloat on the bodies of the dead children of America. May they shoot themselves in the dick by accident.

Not as black-or-white as I had thought, but still very aggravating overall.

8. Mark Begich is not making friends among his Democratic constituents in Alaska

with his bone-headed response. The Republicans aren't going to like him anyway, so I don't know why he feels like he has to act like such a DINO. I'm not sure he'll get my vote next time, even if he is running against the horrible Joe Miller. I might just leave that one blank.

Marta came down the stairs to Mika talking about Senator Heitkamp's vote yesterday. She again wanted to know why we gave her money TWICE. At the time two different D's said we need to keep control of the Senate.

Not another DIME to her ever.

I can understand not voting for bans... but not voting for background checks... and being a democrat.

It's pathetic.

Wanting that love from a death cult.

If she votes with the Dems even 50% of the time, it's something. Better than a Republican. There aren't going to be liberals elected from a state like SD for a long time.
